Focus on what really counts
Why is it that despite being constantly busy it is so easy find another week has slipped by without making progress on the things that are really important to us?
We want to make the big decision that has been hanging over us. We want to find the clarity to advance our strategic agenda rather than getting sucked into other people's priorities. We want to raise the performance concern with one of our team members.
We know we should be doing all these things and we want to get them done, but important things like this are often the most demanding things. These things require us to be on really peak-form to do them properly and so it is entirely rational for us to put to keep putting them off if we aren't able to find the 'form' to do them justice. Putting them off isn't just avoidance, it is a way for us to remain productive, all be it, with less important things.
Peak Form really is the magic behind achieving our goals. Spending some regular time on 'peak-form' is so important - it is the only time when we can effectively complete the really demanding and important aspects of our roles, and we have the focus to do so without getting distracted.
Rather than trying to be on better form all the time, first try to focus on spending at least some time each week on really peak form, and dedicate that to the most important things on your to-do list.
And remember this - small, incremental changes can lead to a BIG increase in peak-performance. On average, time on peak-form increases 105% as a result of completing one of the OwnLife programmes.
