What gear are you in?

When you get people to track how they are doing and measure it over time, they spend an equal amount of time in each of these gears (see below).

When we drop into 1st gear, we all know about it and take corrective action. It feels so horrible, and overwhelming that it makes us focus on doing something about it to get us into a higher gear.

Over time however, we can all get stuck in 2nd, 3rd or 4th gear and start to forget we had a 5th gear at all. We can forget how wonderful and easy life in 5th gear is, or worse, we can tell ourselves that 4th gear is enough and give up on reaching 5th gear completely (22% of people don't spend any time in 5th gear).

So my message for today is, don't be complacent with just staying out of 1st gear, don't forget how good it feels to spend time on peak form and don't forget you have control of the gearstick! 🏁
